COURAGE

Courage does not always shout . . . Sometimes it is a very quiet voice at the end of the day saying . . . I will try again tomorrow.

Rev 22:20 "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!"

Ripe for a Master

Fact: Of the 55 original delegates to the Constitutional Convention of the United States 3 were Deists. It’s a matter of record. Of the other 52 delegates, 28 were Episcopalian, 8 were Presbyterian, 7 Congregationalist, 2 Lutheran, 2 Dutch Reformed, 2 Methodists, 2 Catholic, and 1 unknown. Back in those days church membership required a public profession of Biblical faith, exactly as I did two years ago when I joined an independent Baptist church.

Fact: The majority of the framers of the Constitution were Biblical Christians, not Deists. Although they did not set up a Christian theocracy, their aim was to set up a just society, where Christianity or any other religion could be practiced without fear of interference. However, what can’t be denied is that Christianity was America’s first faith. Not Judaism. Not Islam. Not Evolution. Not Secularism.

Fact: Although great men such as Ethan Allen and Thomas Paine, who were Deists, certainly were important revolutionary figures, they were not, technically, among the Founding Fathers. And, while the contesters of our Founding Fathers’ beliefs love to toss around the term “Deist” like it’s a bad thing, may I remind you that they also toss around the term “Atheist” like it’s a good thing.

The authors of The Declaration of Independence and framers of the Constitution, Christians with perhaps four exceptions, possessed the faith of biblical patriarchs, and of course they would have set up texts based on the solid truths of their faith. “We hold these truths to be self evident . . .” This is the reason the two documents make so much sense, even to non-believers, and also the explanation for its having worked for so long, despite being trampled over the years by the forces of pure evil out of Washington. These men were steeped in Christian principles, so certainly they would have used these principles to create a working plan for freeing us from tyranny and establishing a new country. “. . . that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness . . .”

Furthermore, our Founding Fathers were well acquainted with the depravity of man. As George Washington wrote in his Undelivered First Inaugural Address: Fragments 1789: "The blessed Religion revealed in the word of God will remain an eternal and awful monument to prove that the best Institutions may be abused by human depravity; and that they may even, in some instances be made subservient to the vilest of purposes. Should, hereafter, those who are intrusted[sic] with the management of this government, incited by the lust of power & prompted by the supineness[sic] or venality of their Constituents, overleap the known barriers of this Constitution and violate the unalienable rights of humanity: it will only serve to shew, that no compact among men (however provident in its construction & sacred in its ratification) can be pronounced everlasting and inviolable--and if I may so express myself, that no wall of words--that no mound of parchmt[sic] can be so formed as to stand against the sweeping torrent of boundless ambition on the one side, aided by the sapping current of corrupted morals on the other.

But until the people of America shall have lost all virtue; until they shall have become totally insensible to the difference between freedom & slavery; until they shall have been reduced to such poverty of spirit--as to be willing to sell that preeminent blessing, the birthright of Freemen, for a mess of pottage; in short, until they shall have been found incapable of governing themselves and ripe for a master those consequences, I think, can never arrive.”

How prophetic. And how tragic that it has come to this. There are those who say our country has been stolen from us. No, through our abject inertia, we handed it to the secularists, to Dewey, Marx, Darwin, Freud, Jacoby, and Obama.

The early Ivy League colleges in the U.S. were founded by pastors and/or founded as Christian colleges. Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton and Brown, now hotbeds of secularism and, in most cases, Marxism, all have their roots in Christianity. As an example, Brown University, on its website, says this: “Brown was the Baptist answer to Congregationalist Yale and Harvard, Presbyterian Princeton, and Episcopalian Penn and Columbia. At the time, it was the only one that welcomed students of all religious persuasions (following the example of Roger Williams, who founded Rhode Island in 1636 on the same principle). Brown has long since shed its Baptist affiliation, but remains dedicated to diversity and intellectual freedom.” I’m sure they have congratulated themselves on having eliminated that pesky Christianity from their hallowed halls.

In the finalized version of his inaugural address George Washington stated: “Such being the impressions under which I have, in obedience to the public summons, repaired to the present station; it would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official Act, my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the Universe, who presides in the Councils of Nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that his benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the People of the United States, a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes: and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success, the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the Great Author of every public and private good I assure myself that it expresses your sentiments not less than my own; nor those of my fellow-citizens at large, less than either. No People can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the Affairs of men more than the People of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.”

Please visit this page sometime and bring yourself up to date on our Founding Fathers. Has America lost all virtue? Have we become totally insensible to the difference between slavery and freedom? Are we incapable of governing ourselves and ripe for a master? It looks that way, doesn’t it? Do we really want the man who is presently in the White House to be that master? Or the next man? Do we want to continue on the course we have set? Or are we prepared to do whatever it takes to change that course and take back the government our Christian Founding Fathers had in mind?

The lies will continue, and the manipulation and the encroachment on our freedoms will intensify unless we put a stop to them. I firmly believe our best hope is found in II Chronicles 7:14 and Malachi 3:7. Look them up if you’re not already familiar with them. And please join me in continued prayer for America.

In His amazing love

Granny
